Thou Shall Not Kill... Opps!

Good thing that commandment isn't about animals or I'm in big trouble. But it was an accident, I swear!

It all started one fateful morning when I was planning to spend some quality time on my toilet. I heard a disturbing noise coming from inside my washing machine. It sounded as if something was trying to bang its way out of the machine! Gosh! Would a rat or some other bacteria loaded creature come jumping out of there and onto me?! On closer inspection, the noise sounded more like fluttering. It had to be either a bird or a bat that somehow flew in via the dryer duct and got itself stuck.

Called up the condo management crew, but took them 2 days to show up, which in the meantime, not extremely keen on baked poultry for dinner, I obviously let my laundry pile up. The guys came over to look at the dryer tubes and all, and not finding anything, assured me that whatever in there must have flown back out or just been a figment of a desperate housewife's imagination. Anyway...

Taking the word of the professionals, I went ahead and did 2 loads of my overdue laundry, dismissing the nagging hunch that something was still faintly fluttering in there. Darn it! I knew I should always trust my intuition! Smelled the decomposition that night.

When John came home the next day, I begged him to show me what a man he was and dig out the dead thing from our machine. After much dismantling and investigation, the deceased was found in the wall cavity. The hot air from the dryer must have blasted him through the tubes, pinning him against the wall and broiling it alive. My bad.

Nonetheless, the body of the victim was recovered, given a proper burial (under tonnes of other waste material), and an obituary was posted (this blog entry) with the greatest respect and deepest condolences.
