It takes such a man to be a baby boy!
We have an ambitious little boy in our house. Barely even 5 months old yet, he wants to stand and walk when he can hardly sit or even crawl. And boy has he been working hard on it!
We lay him on his back, and a microsecond later, he would have flipped himself around onto his belly. He does this on the soft bed, rough carpeted floor, hard wood floor, over his rubbery changing mat, his cushy quilt; in fact, he does it on any surface he's on. He'll stay on his belly for the longest time, trying to shuffle himself around. Sure, he can get some distance rolling around, but barely does he get to move an inch on his fours. But does he give up? No way, José! Even if it means blistering his tender toes and bleeding a river, he presses on without a fuss, not letting injury set him back.
Sometimes we wonder how much pain would set him howling like a baby. Scrapes, scratches, bumps, nips, and even jabs don't seem to bother him much at all. At worst, they sometimes make him cry out for 3 seconds, but even before his last sob is over, laughter takes over again! Just how high up the skies is his threshold of pain?!
The only thing that makes him cry endlessly is us not showing him the undivided attention he desires. When he wants to be picked up and cuddled, in his tireless and boisterous manner, he makes sure the whole neighbourhood hears his demand!
Sweat and blood doesn't bring him down, but the absence of hugs and kisses from the woman he loves crushes him. Tell me this little guy isn't every bit a man!
