Warrior Baby

Hula was a masculine warrior dance back in the days. Over time, it flourished into an art form performed by women and children as well.

More than just a dance, accompanied only by vocals and percussion instruments and sometimes the ukelele, Hula is the narration of Hawaiian legends through beautiful movements of the dancers.

Every hula movement has a specific meaning. Different gestures symbolize flowers, animals, mountains, oceans, even conflict and war. With expressive hands and undulating hips, a hula dancer can evoke a palm frond in the breeze or the menace of a shark.

We had so much fun at the photo shoot. Johno was surprising cooperative. In fact, he was having such a blast - cracking up every few minutes with his costume, props and role play. And having 3 people making goofy faces and crazy sounds in front of him makes it all the more a laughable half hour of posing and dance!
